Making this Halloween Sweet and Local

As the weather gets chillier and the leaves change their color, we are all reminded that the holidays are right around the corner starting with the sweetest one, Halloween! Even though Halloween will be different this year and the traditional customs won’t be celebrated, we can still enjoy the candy. Where to go for the best candy? Purchasing goodies from our small businesses is a great way to support the community and, have some Halloween cheer!

Candy

Dulce Mex Dulceria is a family-owned small business with two locations in Minneapolis and St. Paul. They sell the coolest handmade pinatas, and candy or “dulces” in Spanish! From lollipops to gummies, there is a candy suited for everyone. Along with this, they provide gift bags and other party supplies.

Chocolates

Abdallah Candies and Gifts is a Swedish chocolate and candy shop that sells many different types of candies and gifts and has two locations in Apple Valley and Burnsville. The store was founded four generations ago when Albert immigrated from Sweden to the U.S. Currently, as a celebration of the holidays and fall, they are selling caramel apples! As an October special, there are caramel patties! They also sell chocolate gift boxes - the perfect way to celebrate your friends and family while staying socially distanced.

Droolin’ Moose was founded by two sisters Missy and Amy 24 years ago in Bloomington. They sell chocolate and apparel so you can proudly sport your “Droolin’ Moose” apparel on a daily basis! Their chocolates come in their signature cups - a fun touch of creativity.

Popcorn

Goody’s Gourmet Treats is a small business that is located in Brainerd. Good’s Gourmet Treats sells a large variety of popcorn and ice creams! There is plain, buttery, savory, sweet and frozen popcorn with many different sizes. They even sell popcorn in larger volumes for events! The ice cream caters to a variety of different preferences and even has a dairy-free option. The next time you are in Brainerd, give them a visit!

Remix Popcorn and Delights is a BIPOC-owned business in St. Paul that provides a variety of popcorn, cheeses, candies and more! New popcorn options are added frequently - currently the spotlight is on their Sour Key Lime popcorn.

Party Supplies

Sprinkles and Confettiis a one stop party shop. For Halloween, they’ve created the ultimate party box for holiday celebration in partnership with another local business who makes confetti (Leonetti Confetti). Doesn’t this look like a lot of fun?
